NRHA Launches Free Live Streaming Video at 2007 NRHA Derby

Oklahoma City, OK – May 16, 2007 – It’s brand new at the 2007 NRHA Derby and it’s already a huge success! This year, the NRHA Derby features FREE live streaming video on the internet and in just two days it has already allowed thousands of viewers to watch all the Derby action on their computers.

The NRHA is providing the webcast in conjunction with HorseAuctions.com. Alan Taylor, CEO of HorseAuction.com said on Monday, more than 1,400 viewers watched the first section of the Non Pro Derby go round and ancillary classes. “The NRHA’s Non Pro events are already running close to other shows’ final event numbers,” Taylor said. He added that fans watched the Derby competition for at least 30 minutes at a time when visiting the website. The viewership increased even more on Tuesday. Viewer statistics show that the webcast had more than 1,750 hits on that day.

“We’ve seen success beyond our expectations,” said David Patterson, NRHA Director of Marketing and Communications. “Based on what we’ve seen so far, we anticipate close to 3,000 people watching the Open Derby Finals online.” The Open Derby Finals will be held on Saturday, May 19, at 6:00 pm CST.

The NRHA chose Taylor’s streaming video services because of his experience in video streaming of major equine performance events. This year, he will be streaming more than 400 horse sales and shows across the nation. Taylor said viewer statistics so far for the Derby are awesome.

Based on initial viewer statistics from Monday’s performances, Taylor increased the bandwidth to provide each viewer the best possible video quality. Taylor said they have conquered the issues they encounter at every new show and they continue to monitor sound and video quality to produce the best video stream possible.

Be sure to check out all the live Reining action at the 2007 NRHA Derby through Saturday, May 19, at www.nrha.com. There, you can also find the latest scores, pictures and updates from the 2007 NRHA Derby.
