Oklahoma City Wins Bid to Host 2007 FEI World Reining Masters

Oklahoma City, OK – May 15, 2007 – One of the most prestigious Reining competitions in the world is coming back to Oklahoma City! The National Reining Horse Association (NRHA) just received word from the Federation Equestre Internationale (FEI), the international governing body for equestrian sports, that the 2007 FEI World Reining Masters will be held during the 2007 NRHA Futurity and Adequan® North American Affiliate Championship Show November 22-December 1, 2007, at the Oklahoma State Fair Park in Oklahoma City. The Masters competition will be held on Thursday, November 29.

The $100,000 FEI World Reining Masters is a premier competition to find the most elite individual reiner in the world. The top rider, according to a point system, in each National Federation will qualify to compete in the World Reining Masters in Oklahoma City.

The NRHA and Oklahoma City hosted the inaugural FEI World Reining Masters in 2004. The best reiners from 16 different countries traveled across oceans, continents and around the globe to compete for a purse of $100,000 and Gold, Silver and Bronze medals in two divisions; Open and Restricted.

NRHA Executive Director Dan Wall says he’s honored the FEI chose the NRHA to host the World Reining Masters. “It is such an excellent opportunity to be chosen to host the Masters again. It is the perfect way to showcase the sport of Reining before a worldwide audience. We have already begun planning to make this year’s World Reining Masters a truly memorable experience for the competitors and spectators alike.”

Reining is the only western discipline to be recognized by the FEI. The FEI has 135 affiliated National Federations around the world.
