Second Day Of NRHA Reining Competition
At All-American Quarter Horse Congress Brings Surprises
Oklahoma City, OK – Thursday, October 5 - There were a lot of surprises from the second day of NRHA Reining competition at the All-American Quarter Horse Congress in Columbus, OH. NRHA Reiners competed in two different classes with four riders walking away first place winners.
On Monday afternoon, first place in the NRHA Limited Open Reining ended in a tie. Jan Robin Schoeller riding Peptoleap and Patrick A. Schwarz riding Alright With Me were named Co-Champions; each took home $578.97. Each rider ended up with a score of 215.5. Peptoleap is owned by John W. Thompson of Woodville, ON, Canada, and Alright With Me is owned by Dr. Ronald Kantner of Wapakoneta, OH. Third place was awarded to Docs Tivio Oak, ridden by Christopher Hull and owned by Stephen Dodson of Athens, TN. Hull rode his way to $319.95 in prize money with a score of 214.5.
The final class of the day also ended in a tie for first place. NRHA Intermediate Open Reining saw close competition, but after the last run Chicklets Lil Doll, ridden by Francis Mercier, and Hes A Majestic Chic, ridden by Ward Ferch, came out on top. The first place riders both scored 216. Each took home $946.47 in prize money. Chicklets Lil Doll is owned by Robert Santagata of Campbell Hall, NY, and Hes A Majestic Chic is owned by Chris Cagle of Valley View, TX. Just one half point behind came Laura Mae Phillips in third place riding Pickup Chic. With a score of 215.5, Phillips earned $572.28 in prize money. Pickup Chic is owned by David Phillips of Mohrsville, PA.
