New Million Dollar Rider Joins Elite NRHA Group
Congratulations to Andrea Fappani of San Marcos, California. He broke another NRHA record when he became the first European rider to break the million dollar earnings mark and join the elite NRHA Million Dollar Rider club. Though the results are still unofficial pending receipt of show results in the NRHA Office, Andrea earned approximately $32,000 in the Scottsdale Classic Open Futurity, Scottsdale, Arizona, where he placed first, second and fourth. That brings his NRHA earnings to approximately $1,030,000.
Top Reiner Nears Two Million Dollar Milestone
Another top reiner is poised to break into the Two Million Dollar Club. Shawn Flarida, of Springfield, Ohio, is positioned to exceed the two million dollar mark before the end of the year. The World Champion reiner is unofficially less than $10,000 away from becoming only the second two million dollar rider in NRHA history. The winnings are not officially tallied yet, but the crowd-pleasing rider is expected to come away from the All-American Quarter Horse Congress in Columbus, Ohio, with more than $56,000 in prize money. Flarida will have two more chances to meet his goal before the 2006 NRHA Futurity. He’ll compete in the FEI World Reining Masters Finals in Denver and then the 2006 AQHA World Championship Show in Oklahoma City. Flarida will join Tim McQuay in achieving Two Million Dollar Rider status. McQuay hit two million dollars in 2005.
Countdown to the 2006 NRHA Futurity & Adequan® North American Affiliate Championship Show
We’re just a little over one month away from the premiere Reining event of the year! The 2006 NRHA Futurity & Adequan® North American Affiliate Championship Show at the Oklahoma State Fair Park from November 23 – December 2, 2006. While riders are busy training their horses, there are several deadlines you should mark on your calendar.
Rider Designation Coupons: The rider designation coupons must be received in the NRHA Office on or before November 1, 2006. POSTMARKS WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED. If you do not have your original rider designation coupons, you may download one from the NRHA website. You may also fax it to (405) 946-8425; please call to confirm that your fax has been received. Upon completion, approximately November 6, 2006, the draw will be posted on the NRHA website. NO DRAW INFORMATION WILL BE GIVEN OUT OVER THE PHONE.
Ancillary/NAAC Entries: The Ancillary/NAAC class entry deadline is also approaching fast. All Ancillary/NAAC entries must be received in the NRHA Office on or before November 10, 2006. Any Ancillary/NAAC Entries received after November 10, 2006, will have a $200 late fee per horse per class.
Stall Reservations: All stall reservations must be received in the NRHA Office on or before November 10, 2006, to be guaranteed placement. NRHA requires that the stall agent send the amount due in ONE payment. Reservations or additional stall requests received after November 10, 2006, must be purchased at the NRHA Show Office upon arrival.
Futurity Exhibitor Move-In: Exhibitors may move horses in NO earlier than Tuesday, November 21, 2006, at 8:00 am. Please see Premium Book for complete details or download from the NRHA website.

Denim & Diamonds Gala: The Reining Horse Sports Foundation invites you to an evening of glitz and glamour at the 2nd Annual Denim & Diamonds Gala on Friday, December 1, 2006, in the “Hall of Champions,” at the 2006 NRHA Futurity. The Gala Committee Members: Doug Carpenter, Frank Costantini, Susan Costantini, Cathy Anastasi and Heather Cline are excited to bring back another night to remember.
This year’s event features a synchronized-service steak dinner, dancing to a wonderful band, encore champagne and dessert feast, live auction and a reverse raffle. The Committee will have large screens for viewing the Freestyle competition during the Gala and easy access to the arena, so that you won’t miss a minute of the fabulous competition.
The Committee has 250 seats available and they will be sold on a first come, first serve basis. Tables for 8 sell for $4,000 and individual seats are $500. This is a tax-deductible event. Please join us for an enchanted evening filled with great food, entertainment and fun!

Deadline Alert: International Affiliate Program Applications
Excitement over the sport of Reining is growing worldwide. Now an important deadline is nearing for National Association Affiliates wishing to join the National Reining Horse Association’s (NRHA) International Affiliate Program (IAP). There are many benefits to joining the IAP. It’s also a way to ensure the future of the sport of Reining around the world by providing the governing body and leadership for Reining on a national level within that country. Right now there are 8 countries around the world participating in the IAP. The deadline to apply for the IAP is October 31, 2006.

The Judges Schools are scheduled for January 26 -28, 2007, and March 27 – 29, 2007, pre-registration in required.
