The 2005 NRHA Derby Show is just a memory now, but if you missed the Derby it’s not too late to take a look at the results and photos. Just click on the 2005 NRHA Derby logo on the NRHA website, www.nrha.com.

The NRHA European Affiliate Championship will take place in Duerne, Netherlands, July 8-10, and has become a must for every serious competitor in Europe.

The new Fiesta in the Park is scheduled for August 24-28, in Lexington, Kentucky, and promises to have something for everyone. You can get more information at www.fiestainthepark.com




NRHA Rule Changes
It’s that time of year again - time to submit proposed rule changes for 2006. All proposed rule changes must be received in the NRHA office by Friday, June 17. Due to rescheduling of the June Board of Directors meeting, the Rule Change Proposal Form indicates a due date of June 11, but may be used to submit a proposal to arrive by June 17. Election of NRHA Officers
A nominating committee appointed by the President of NRHA nominates candidates for offices open for election and submits them to the President not less than 120 days before the designated membership meeting where elections will occur.

Did you know that NRHA members can nominate candidates for office? According to the 2005 NRHA Handbook, “At the written request of ten (10) members of the Association, a candidate other than those submitted by the above mentioned committee may be placed into nomination and it shall be immediately given to the membership, provided said written requests for nomination is placed in the hands of the NRHA Office not less than ninety (90) days before the annual election.”

Reminder to NRHA Members Competing For North American Regional Affiliate Finals!
If you are a member of and showing in more than one NRHA affiliate and you are working toward qualifying for a North American Regional Affiliate Finals, you must designate your primary affiliate by July 1st. The Affiliate Designation Form (PDF) must be completed and either mailed or faxed to the NRHA office. If the NRHA office does not receive your designation form by July 1st, any points you have accumulated will not count towards either affiliate. On Saturday, July 9th, at the NRHA European Affiliate Championship in Duerne, Netherlands, the National Reining Horse Youth Association will elect two delegates to represent Europe at the NRHyA Officer Elections, which will held during the 2005 NRHA Futurity & North American Affiliate Championship Show in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, November 24 – December 3. Delegates will vie for the positions of NRHyA President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer, and Sentinel. This election represents a milestone in the history of NRHyA as it is the first time European and Canadian Youth members will be represented in NRHyA. University of Findlay Honors Dale Wilkinson
NRHA Hall of Famer Dale Wilkinson, the only professional horse trainer to win both the National Reining Horse Association (NRHA) Futurity and the National Cutting Horse Association (NCHA) Futurity, will be honored on Saturday August 13, 2005, with the naming of the “Dale E. Wilkinson Arena” at The University of Findlay, in Findlay, Ohio.

NRHA Alliance with the American Paint Horse Association
The National Reining Horse Association is proud to have an enduring alliance with the American Paint Horse Association, which provides benefits through their involvement with each of their association’s programs. Through this partnership, many on-going cash incentives are awarded to reiners who compete on Paint Horses.

NRHA shows continuing support for APHA by providing lifetime earnings records to the association, as well as promotional and marketing opportunities at the NRHA Derby and NRHA Futurity Show in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Each year, NRHA also sponsors the APHA World Show Reining Challenge trophy. For more information on the APHA World Show, June 26 - July 9, in Fort Worth, Texas, and the Reining Challenge log onto www.apha.com.

At the National Reining Horse Association (NRHA) Futurity and Derby, Paint Preferred incentives include $2,500 paid to the owners of the highest-advancing Paint Horse in both the Open Division and the Non Pro Division at the NRHA Futurity as well as the NRHA Derby. In 2005, APHA will pay incentive money in eight NRHA divisions as year-end awards. A Paint Horse that is named a division World Champion will receive $2,500, a Reserve World Champion will receive $1,500 and Top 10 finishers will receive $500.

The Gelding Plus Program
Each year, APHA offers cash incentives to the highest-advancing qualified Paint gelding in both the Open and Non Pro divisions at the NRHA Futurity Show. The owner of each division’s highest-advancing gelding receives a $5,000 cash award.

Tiki Torches and Reining Horses
The inaugural “Style in the Aisle” stall front decorating contest will debut at the 2005 NRHA Futurity & North American Affiliate Championship Show. Style in the Aisle will be held annually at the NRHA Futurity Show. Every year there will be a different theme. This year’s theme will be Tiki Torches and Reining Horses. There will be an entry fee of $50, which will benefit the Reining Horse Sports Foundation (RHSF). The contest will be judged by the current NRHyA Officer Team. Awards will be given for first, second and third place. Bids Requested for 2006 FEI World Reining Masters in North America
The United States Equestrian Federation is accepting bids for the 2006 FEI World Reining Masters. Bids must be received by Friday, July 15, 2005, to be considered. This marks the third FEI World Reining Masters, and the second time the event will be hosted by North America. The inaugural FEI World Reining Masters took place in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, in 2004.
