NRHA Reiner NEWS FLASH!
If you’re looking for the most up-to-the-minute Reining and NRHA news, the NRHA Reiner magazine has just what you’re looking for. Just as the NRHA Reiner is the place to go for “All Things Reining,” the Reiner News Flash will have the most up-to-date news on “All Things Reining.” The association, the horses, the people and much more are covered. Big News from the June NRHA Board of Directors Meeting
Here’s a quick look at some of the major news to come out of the NRHA Board of Directors Meeting held June 23-24 in Oklahoma City.

*Bylaw and Rule Change Proposals
Go to the “Members Only” section of the NRHA website beginning July 1 to read bylaw and rule change proposals.

*First webcast for NRHA Board members!
NRHA held its first-ever webcast of a Board of Directors meeting. Testing the waters was Board member Dave Young of the Netherlands. Dave joined the webcast and offered his opinions and even voted on issues. If you’d like to participate in the next Board of Directors meeting contact NRHA Director of IT DennisYork at dyork@nrha.com. All board members are encouraged to participate.

*2008 NRHA Convention in Oklahoma City
The 2008 NRHA Convention will be held January 28- February 2 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The Convention will be a weeklong celebration of fun family activities, Executive Board, Board of Directors and committee meetings, an Affiliate Congress, seminars, galas, an RHSF casino night, and possibly a judges’ applicant school and show manager and show secretary seminars at the 2008 NRHA Convention. It will be held at Oklahoma City’s Renaissance Hotel and Cox Convention Center conveniently located in Bricktown, just a few minutes away from the State Fair Park.

*New Lifetime Achievement Award Announced
Hall of Fame Committee Chairperson Doug Carpenter announced the creation of a new award – The NRHA Dale Wilkinson Lifetime Achievement Award. It will be funded by the RHSF. Fittingly, the first ten recipients will receive a Bryant Pace Sr. likeness of Dale Wilkinson. Watch the NRHA Reiner News Flash for the announcement of the first recipient.

*2007 NRHA Futurity News
Two New RHSF Activities
The RHSF will roll out two new activities at the 2007 Futurity. You can have Thanksgiving dinner with your fellow reiners on the show grounds. And affiliates from around the world we will be able to showcase their native customs, food, breeders and trainers at the RHSF Hospitality Room. Already showing interest are Mexico, Brazil, Canada, Holland and other countries. Proceeds will benefit the RHSF.

New Futurity Trophies
The board approved the institution of new traveling cups for the champions of the Open and Non Pro Futurity. Another new award at the Futurity will be the presentation of championship rings to the Open Futurity rider and owner.
*Million Dollar Owners
A new program will be created to honor Million Dollar Owners similar to the Million Dollar Rider and Horse designations. There are two owners who are expected to cross that million dollar milestone in 2007… Lance Griffin, a member of the Silver medal winning Team Canada at the 2006 FEI World Equestrian Games in Aachen, Germany and NRHA Two Million Dollar Rider Tim McQuay.

*Eligibility
The Board discussed possibly handicapping the Prime Time and restructuring the Rookie and Novice classes.

*USEF High Performance Reining Committee
Committee Chairman Jerry Kimmel is creating task forces to work with the United States Equestrian Federation (USEF) for the development of USEF High Performance Reining programs. Note: High Performance Reining Programs are not a part of and will not receive funding from the NRHA or the RHSF.

*NAA Status Approved for Germany
Reining Deutschland was approved as the National Association Affiliate (NAA) for Germany and now joins the International Affiliate Program.

NRHA European Affiliate Championships 1 Week Away
The best reiners in all of Europe are ready to compete in the NRHA European Affiliate Championships set for July 6-8, 2007, in Wr. Neustadt, Austria. The event will be held at the beautiful H & D Schulz facility, run by Helmut and Dennis Schulz. As well as the EAC, an NRHA Show management seminar will be held on July 5. Top U.S. Reiners to Compete for USEF National Championship
The top reiners from across the United States are preparing to compete in the Adequan/USEF Open Reining National Championship June 30 at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, KY. The event will be held in conjunction with the Clayton Woosley Hall of Fame Reining.

The 2006 USEF Open Reining National Champion is Matt Mills. Mills and Easy Otie Whiz, owned by Bobbie Cook, won the championship with a score of 231. Mills and Easy Otie Whiz went on to be a member of the Gold medal winning Team USA at the 2006 FEI World Equestrian Games in Aachen, Germany. Mills will return this year to the USEF Open Reining Championship to defend his title!

Shawn Flarida, Crystal McNutt & the NRHA Featured at Arabian Horse Youth Nationals The NRHA has been invited to participate in the Arabian Horse Youth Nationals in Albuquerque, New Mexico on July 28th. NRHA All-Time Leading Money Earner Shawn Flarida, Springfield, Ohio, will demonstrate the sport of Reining. Flarida will be joined by 2007 NRHA Limited Open Derby Champion Crystal McNutt, Scottsdale, Arizona. We hear the crew NRHA’s TV program on RFD-TV “NRHA Inside Reining” will also be there to feature the event on an upcoming show! Any and all spectators are welcome and you could see yourself on TV! See you there!

Make Plans to Attend NRHA Regional Clinic Near You
Mark your calendar for the NRHA Regional Clinics benefiting the NRHyA. The next clinic will be held July 11. The Southeast Regional Clinic will be hosted by NRHA Professionals Bryant Pace, Brian Bell, Mike McEntire and Francois Gauthier. It will be held at the Senator Bob Martin Eastern Agricultural Center in Williamston, North Carolina.

On Saturday, July 14 and Sunday, July 15 there will be two NRHA Regional Clinics featuring Tim McQuay, Tom McCutcheon and Scott McCutcheon at McQuay Stables in Tioga, Texas.

Each clinic is a one day event. The fee for each individual Clinic on July 14 or July 15 is $200 for adults or $150 for youth.

Rookie Day presented by Classic Equine heads to Ardmore
The next Rookie Day presented by Classic Equine, will be held on Saturday, July 14 in Ardmore, OK. The cost for Rookie Day is $175 for adults and $100 for youth participants. (All proceeds benefit the RHSF Crisis Fund.)

Featured trainers are: Clint Haverty, Kim Ferguson, Shelly Ries, Tim Lynch, John Horn, Terri Fox, Abby Boyd, Andy Johnson and Ann Salmon.
